Remove Text & Overlays from Your Photos

Got a timestamp on a treasured photo? Caption covering half the image? Logo blocking the view? Our AI removes text, overlays, and stamps in seconds — right in your browser.

What Text & Overlays Can You Remove?

Clean Image handles every type of on-image text. The AI model (OpenCV LaMa) analyzes the pixels behind and around the text, then fills in what should be there. Results depend on the background — clean, simple backgrounds work best.

Date Stamps & Timestamps

Digital cameras and phones stamp dates on photos. Old film scans have date burns in the corner. Remove them without cropping the image.

Captions & Subtitles

Screenshots with text overlays, meme text, or subtitle bars blocking the image. Paint over the text and the AI removes it cleanly.

Logos & Branding

Channel logos, broadcast overlays, product branding. Clean them off screenshots, product photos, or presentation images.

UI & Annotation Marks

Screen recording annotations, red circles, arrows, and callout boxes from tutorials or presentations.

How Text Removal Works

Open Clean Image in your browser. Upload your photo — PNG, JPG, or WebP. Use the brush to paint directly over the text or overlay you want gone. The brush is pressure-sensitive: smaller strokes for tight spaces around letters, wider strokes for large blocks of text.

When you click Erase, the AI looks at the surrounding pixels and predicts what the area should look like without text. Processing takes 1–5 seconds depending on your device. The model is 88MB and downloads once — after that, every edit is instant.

Tips for Best Text Removal Results

When to Remove Text vs Objects

Text removal and object removal use the same AI engine, but the approach differs. Text is usually flat and uniform — the AI just needs to fill a small, consistent area. Objects have depth and shadows — the AI has to reconstruct what's behind them. For text on clean backgrounds, one pass is usually enough. For objects against complex backgrounds, you might need to erase in smaller sections.

If you're removing something physical — a person, a sign, a piece of furniture — use the object removal page for specific tips. If it's text, stamps, or flat overlays on the image, you're in the right place.
